BONUS VIDEO: SIMA CUNNINGHAM SINGS DOLLY PARTON’S “JOLENE”

When I sat down with Sima and got a sneak peek at her usual set list, one song stuck out to me: Dolly Parton’s Jolene. Apparently, this old country song from Nashville was a favorite of Sima the jazzy singer from Chicago.
As daily CP//LRS readers probably discerned yesterday, Jolene also happens to be my dear sister Kathleen’s favorite song in the world—it gets her mouth running, her voice rising, and her hands gesticulating like you wouldn’t believe (I mean this actually, totally, and wholly—you would not believe it—I’m not just figure-of-speeching here). I told Sima if we had some time left over I’d be happy/grateful to stick around and hear her play Jolene.
I am extremely happy now to share the performance with you all.
