Last Monday night I hopped on the westbound #80 to Irving Park with my big backpack full of camera equipment to do a shoot with the talented/surprisingly young Henry Mosher and Alaina Stacey in Henry’s very-cool-high-school-kid bedroom.
As I entered their front door shaking snow from my shoulders, I saw a cozy living room covered in the hectic miscellany of Christmas preparations: half-wrapped gifts and silver tinsel snaked between an impressive book collection and typically artsy-mom wall hangings. 
It was a school night for Henry. We needed to finish our session done before Henry’s mom was done baking her quiche—a process which involved intermittent slamming of a heavy oven door. 
Very rarely does a welcoming mom offer me a ride home after one of these shoots, and for that alone this was a memorable episode of livingroomsongs. Most memorable, of course, was the beautiful harmonies Henry and Alaina—two high school Wunderkinds—created together for their song, “Melancholy Hats.”
